- ➤ A study from Colorado showed that a law signed in May 2022 making small amounts of fentanyl possession a felony did not reduce overdose deaths. The Fentanyl Accountability and Prevention Act (House Bill 22-1326) increased funding for harm reduction and required state jails to offer an opioid treatment plan (such as methadone) but did not improve treatment access. - ➤ Colorado's new law against distracted driving has led to a 135% increase in citations with 94 tickets issued since January 1st as reported by the Colorado Department of Transportation. The law has cut cellphone use by 3.3% and is credited with preventing 88 crashes and 49 injuries as Distracted Driving Awareness Month begins today. Denver7
