- ➤ The U.S. Department of Homeland Security revoked F-1 visas for nine international students on the CU and CSU campuses today — while no action occurred at Metropolitan State or University of Denver. Affected students were advised to immediately contact their home embassy and CSU's Office of International Programs for help — privacy concerns limit further details. Denver7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On April 1, Town Council ratified David J. Thrower as the new municipal court judge for Castle Rock, replacing retired judge Louis A. Gresh with his first session set for April 9. Council also proclaimed April as Water Conservation Month and aims to lower per capita water use from about 118 to 100 gallons daily by 2050. Town of Castle Rock
- ➤ Jeffco Open Space is improving Mt. Morrison’s South Ridge Trail to slow erosion and keep its steep challenge intact. The county spent $67,000 to install 80 gabion baskets and will add 60 more this year (with about 1,500 feet of stairs planned over the next few years) while closing and replanting the most eroded section. - ➤ Douglas County will soon be home to a new mega-sports complex named Zebulon, planned for construction in Sterling Ranch near Ward Road & Waterton Road. Commissioners voted on March 18 to partner with Sterling Ranch Development Company, the Sterling Ranch Community Authority Board & KT Development to build the facility with multiple sports spaces and hold a live town hall in April to review additional plans.
