COMMUNITY NEWS

  • To honor Arbor Day and Castle Rock's 38 years as a Tree City USA community, the Town will host three volunteer tree planting and cleanup events—one at Metzler Ranch Community Park on April 24th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., another at the same park on April 25th, and a third at Mitchell Gulch Park on April 28th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers aged 12 and up will help plant over 50 trees and enhance local green spaces.  Town of Castle Rock

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today the Colorado Department of the Treasury is mailing $8 million in unclaimed property to 12,000 Coloradans (checks will arrive in the next few weeks and can be cashed immediately).  Denver7
  • State lawmakers passed House Bill 25-1146 in a committee hearing on Tuesday — changing the bill so youth detention facilities can use emergency beds without court orders and must show efforts to secure community-based services amid a 60% rise in violent juvenile crime in Colorado Springs. The legislation now moves to the House Appropriations Committee for further discussion.  Denver7
