Good morning, Castle Rock.

Residents face a risk of missing life-saving notifications as Arapahoe and Douglas counties switched emergency alert systems after a cyberattack last year — only about 23,000 of 120,000 previously registered are now enrolled, and officials urge quick sign-ups ahead of wildfire season.

First responders in the area are getting new training through WICC (Wildfire Initiated Community Conflagration) workshops to standardize practices for quick wildfire response.

Officials from Boulder and Douglas Counties (including Larkspur Fire Lt. Rusty Booth) urge residents to sign up for alert systems as trainings improve coordination.
