- ➤ Castle Rock will hold its annual Spring Up the Creek event on May 3 from 9 to 11 a.m.—volunteers will clean trash along the trails near East Plum Creek and Sellars Gulch. The 22nd year of this event provides cleaning supplies, snacks and water to improve water quality, and participants must register online with a waiver. Town of Castle Rock
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Barb Dignan and Front Range Theater Company will launch an all-adult theater group called Classics on Stage that will perform Of Mice and Men at Castle Pines Library from April 25-27—I understand the production gives local adults a chance to keep acting. Dignan, a long-time theater teacher, said the group fills a gap for grown-ups who want to stay involved in theater. Castle Rock News-Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Douglas County School District Superintendent Erin Kane presented a plan at a board meeting to pair Highlands Ranch schools by matching Saddle Ranch with Eldorado, Heritage with Summit View and Acres Green with Fox Creek starting in fall 2026 while shifting sixth grade to middle schools. The board will vote on the proposals on April 22nd as community members have raised questions about special education programs and transportation logistics. Castle Rock News-Press

- ➤ Today and Saturday, the Bureau of Land Management is hosting its first wild horse and burro adoption event of the year at the Douglas County Fairgrounds to find new homes for 35 wild horses from Colorado and 10 wild burros from Arizona at a minimum bid of $125. BLM said the event aims to offer a safer alternative to past roundups (spokesperson Steven Hall explained the goal is to give these animals a good life). Denver7
