- ➤ A missing 15-year-old boy from Lakewood may be in Denver, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children; he has been missing since November 30 and is described as a white male with black eyes and brown hair, with Lakewood Police urging anyone with information to call 1-303-980-7300. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On April 11, many students, staff and community members at Cimarron Middle School gathered to honor Molly Corlett, whose organ donation saved five lives. Former assistant vice principal Cindy Corlett explained how Molly touched many lives during National Donate Life Month and the school unveiled a mural — a lasting sign of hope. Castle Rock News-Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Douglas County Board of Commissioners began the process to become a home rule county with voters having the final decision—petitions from candidates must be submitted with 25 voter signatures by April 24 to appear on the June 24 ballot. If approved on Nov. 4, a charter commission will meet within 30 days to draft a new home rule charter within 240 days. Denver7
- ➤ Gov. Jared Polis warned Colorado congressional leaders that cutting Medicaid will cause economic disaster by leaving hundreds of thousands without insurance and costing up to 12,000 jobs, $1.3 billion in productivity and $82 million in taxes by 2026. The governor and lieutenant governor urged lawmakers to avoid such cuts to protect the health care system and vulnerable populations. Denver7

- ➤ Congress is discussing cutting Medicaid funding that may leave 1 in 5 Coloradans without health care and force hospitals and clinics to reduce services if the cuts proceed.
