Good morning, Castle Rock. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 17th of May.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Castle Rock residents can enjoy free concerts and food & fun for all at the Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park every third Thursday during the summer. The series will begin on June 19 with Heavy Diamond Ring, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. & shows running until 9 p.m. while donations from drinks benefit the Parks and Trails Foundation.  Town of Castle Rock
  • DeAngelis Center Foundation has announced a spring and summer schedule of free training events to support school and community safety. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, Governor Jared Polis vetoed a bill that would have stopped municipal courts from imposing harsher sentences than state courts for low-level crimes—he argued that local governments must have the freedom to set penalties that address local issues. Supporters believed the measure would promote fairness while mayors from Denver, Colorado Springs and Aurora contended it would restrict home rule.  Denver7
