A Douglas County adult died from hantavirus last Saturday, with health officials reporting the virus came from rodent exposure + investigations confirm the case is not linked to the recent cruise ship outbreak.

Authorities say the risk to residents remains low.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported a drop in syphilis cases—falling from over 3,200 in 2024 to 2,400 in 2025—after expanding testing and treatment, and officials stress that early pregnancy screening is key to preventing severe newborn complications.
