COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Colorado veterans and local leaders are raising $15 million to build Heroes Hall, a 14,000+ square-foot center to serve nearly 20,000 veterans with meeting spaces and mental health resources. Douglas County approved a $400,000 design contract in January and unveiled a new sign off Plum Creek Parkway as Memorial Day nears.  Denver7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At the May 20 Town Council meeting, officials approved financial agreements and tax increment revenue financing for the Brickyard development at 401 Prairie Hawk Drive—part of a plan to redevelop the 31-acre site—and held the first reading of annexation, zoning and development agreements for the 535-acre Pine Canyon site. The final reviews for these items will be scheduled for the June 3 meeting as the Town prepares to support future mixed-use development and improved local infrastructure.  Town of Castle Rock
  • A Douglas County district court judge denied a request to block a special election so voters can decide on adopting a home rule charter after a lawsuit alleged violations of open meeting laws—voters will cast ballots on June 24 and, if approved, finalize the charter in November with home rule taking effect on January 1.  Denver7
