  • A new study warns that rising temperatures could intensify hailstorms in Colorado, increasing insurance premiums for homeowners. Lawmakers have proposed Senate Bill 155 to fund hail-proof roofing grants if signed by Gov. Polis on Aug. 12 & help ease premium hikes locally.  Denver7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Polis signed the Wildlife Collision Prevention Act that lets Coloradans opt to pay an extra $5 on their car registration + support more wildlife crossings across the state; the law will go into effect Jan. 1 to help reduce animal-vehicle crashes.  Denver7

HEALTH NEWS

  • With warmer weather prompting an earlier mosquito season, health officials are warning Castle Rock residents to protect themselves and their pets from West Nile virus and heartworm disease by wearing long sleeves and using insect repellent (keeping pets on preventive medication is advised) as cases have risen across Colorado.  Denver7
