Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 14th of June.
Good morning, Castle Rock.
A Senate provision in the Big Beautiful Bill may force the government to sell up to 3.3 million acres of public lands, including areas in Colorado, to build more housing.
Local lawmakers warn that selling these lands may hurt outdoor recreation and the community's way of life—prompting calls for further review.
Douglas County voters will decide on June 24 whether to form a 21-member commission to draft a home rule charter if the measure is approved.
The commission (six members from each district and three at-large candidates) is being chosen from 48 candidates with differing views on home rule.
Castle Rock Fire and Rescue and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control are launching the Bucket Brigade campaign to help residents safely dispose of used fireworks this June — marked 5-gallon buckets with clear disposal instructions will be available at select local fireworks stands starting Monday, June 23 while supplies last.
