- ➤ Union leaders said more Colorado Safeway stores will join the ongoing strike in the coming days after talks with Albertsons stalled on Thursday night. The union representing 7,000 workers began walkouts at 11 stores, including one in Castle Rock, and members have been advised on picketing during high heat + continued negotiations. Denver7

- ➤ Castle Rock Water patrols neighborhoods to check that residents water on their assigned day (square, circle, or diamond based on house numbers) and to stop water waste from running irrigation systems when it is dark outside. - ➤ A lightning strike in a remote part of Douglas County started a wildfire near Turtle Mountain on Sunday that was detected by an AI camera which quickly alerted first responders who reached the site on foot before a helitack crew and a firefighting helicopter contained the blaze in less than four hours. Douglas County officials said the system—funded in partnership with Xcel Energy and Core Energy—improved response times and urged residents to sign up for CodeRED alerts. Denver7
