Charles Lamb dug at Lamb Spring in northwestern Douglas County in 1960 to expand a stock pond but found mammoth bones dating to 13,000 years ago, and later Smithsonian archaeologists uncovered remains from two Ice Age layers showing early human hunting activity.

LSAP will offer monthly tours starting at 9 a.m. on the first Saturday with the next tour scheduled for July 5+ giving local visitors a chance to learn about the past and see the sturdy cast of a juvenile mammoth skull on display.
