- ➤ Abigail Reynolds, 17, from Castle Rock, created the Gearing 4 Engineering Expo for kids in third grade through eighth grade to get hands-on experience in engineering—her Gold Award project drew over 30 participants at Aspen View Academy and earned her a spot in the Douglas County Hall of Fame. She plans to host the expo again this year and hopes to inspire more young learners as she enters her senior year this fall. Douglas County News-Press

- ➤ Arapahoe County native—he grew up in unincorporated Centennial—Andy Bass accepted the executive director role for South Suburban Parks and Recreation on July 10 and will begin on Sept. 8. - ➤ Colorado leaders are urging residents to buy electric vehicles before federal tax credits expire at the end of September so they can get up to $7,500 for new models and up to $4,000 for used ones. Will Toor from the Colorado Energy Office said today that state incentives of $3,500 to $6,000 and a trade-in program for low-income families may help offset costs — dealer concerns over future affordability remain.
