EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On July 17, Kiowa School District held a town hall meeting to review a $60,680,865 BEST grant that covers 85.9% of the cost to build a new school on nearly 40 acres south of Highway 86, with about $9.9 million to be paid by local taxpayers if the bond is approved in November. Officials and community members discussed design ideas and plans that will allow current school facilities to continue serving for sports and preschool use while the new, modern building is constructed. - ➤ Taxpayers spent over $40 million fighting wildfires in Colorado this year, with nearly three quarters of that cost coming from the South Rim and Turner Gulch Fires (per the Bureau of Land Management).
