  • Today more than 200 new state laws go into effect—one law lets domestic abuse survivors self-certify abuse and secure tenant protections like extended repayment plans, and another law extends the protection order period in divorce cases, requiring courts to consider abuse history for spousal support decisions.  Denver7
  • A Colorado woman found her ExpressToll bill exceeded $5,000 after a stolen license plate led to incorrect account details—tolls charged to a separate account were later corrected when the agency waived fees, fixed her account, and sent a new sticker. She has since paid nearly $2,000 and advises drivers to update their DMV records if they move.  Denver7
  • Today, more than 200 new laws will go into effect in Colorado—covering issues from domestic violence to wildfires, tax incentives and education. Additional laws passed in 2025 will start in September and October, with more slated for early 2026.  Denver7
