GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser described Nebraska's petition for Supreme Court review of its plan to build a canal on the South Platte River as baseless and too early for review — Gov. Jared Polis said the filing was premature and a meritless escalation as Colorado filed its legal response. Denver7
- ➤ Three years after Colorado voters approved free meals for all students, voters in November will decide the future of the Healthy School Meals For All program with two ballot measures—Propositions LL and MM. Proposition LL would let the state keep extra funds while Proposition MM would raise taxes on households earning over $300,000, and the outcome will determine if free meals remain universal or are limited. - ➤ Food Bank of the Rockies and other local food banks in Colorado report a 25% drop in federal food donations that left a gap of 14,000 meals a day as the government shutdown continues and living costs rise.
